Subject: The report contains a large amount of information on the legislatives changes in the Member States, the current position of the Member States and the case law of the Court of Justice. The European Commission underlined that the past seven years have shown that, despite its operational success, the EAW system is far from perfect and it must to be ameliorated. The protection of fundamental rights has to play a central role; the measures provided by the road map of the Council concerning procedural rights of suspects and accused persons have to be adopted and implemented.
