Subject:  The Court of Justice ruled that the Framework Decision on the European arrest warrant is not invalid inasmuch it does not breach Article 6(2) EU or, more specifically, the principle of legality of criminal offences and penalties and the principle of equality and non-discrimination.

The Court ruled that the general principles of Community law included the principle of legality and the principle of equality and non-discrimination, which are also reaffirmed in Articles 49, 20 and 21 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, proclaimed in Nice on 7 December 2000.
