Title: The right to asylum: the European picture

Subject: The report synthesises the development of the European legislation in the matter of the right to asylum, starting from the Convention of Geneva and the European Convention of Human Rights, passing through the Community and European Union Treaties, to the Treaty of Lisbon, which at last provides a common policy in the matter of asylum. However, the timeframe foreseen by the Stockholm Programme already cannot be respected, because of the accumulated delays.
