Subject: The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda has sentenced Tharcisse Renzaho, prefect of Kigali-Ville and Colonel in the Rwandan Armed Forces in 1994, to life imprisonment. He was found guilty of genocide, crimes against humanity and serious violations of Article 3 common to the Geneva Conventions and Additional Protocol II (war crimes). The Trial Chamber I has found him criminally responsible for both the abduction and killing at least 140 civilians, both sexual abuse and rape against many women and girls, all Tutsis.
