Other Acts COM (2007)628 (24/10/2007)

Type: Acts of the European Union: Communication of the European Commission on fight to black work

Authority: European Authorities - European Union: European Commission

Date: 10/24/2007

Subject: The European Commission stressed the policy relevance of reducing undeclared work. From a macroeconomic perspective, it decreases tax revenues and undermines the financing of social security systems. From a microeconomic perspective, undeclared work tends to distort fair competition among firms, paving the way for social dumping. The Commission pointed out that undeclared work tends to be associated with poor working conditions for individuals and subsequent risks to workers' health, low prospects for career progress and insufficient social protection coverage. The Commission therefore affirme that it is time for Member States to reinforce their efforts in the fight against undeclared work.
