Subject: The decision of the Upper Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber), in a proceeding in matter of family reunification, according to the Immigration (European Economic Area) Regulations 2006, established that Northern Ireland citizens must consider themselves as British nationals from the birth, unless they renounce: the Court established that the norms of the Good Friday Agreement 1998 in the matter of citizenship – according to which every Northern Ireland citizen has the right to be identified as Irish or British or both, as he prefers – are not automatically applied in the national legal system in absence of an explicit norm
