Subject: After the Council decision, the Community ratified the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. The combined handing in of Community and Member States ratifications will ensure the entry into force of the Convention. This is a clear statement of intent by the Community for the promotion and respect of cultural diversity within the EU and at international level.
