Subject: The present document is a lecture held by the Author at the University of Macerata on occasion of the conferral of an honorary degree. The Author, after having stated that the law contributes to anthropology by building social figures, reconstructs the development of the western legal civilization, from the invention of the juridical subject to the constitutionalization of the person. The “dignity revolution”, expressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, in the Italian and German Constitutions, leads to the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
