Subject: The Interamerican Court of Human Rights decides on the legitimacy of the detention and trial against the ex Prime Minister of Haiti, Yvone Neptune. The Court examines the guarantees of fair trial and fundamental rights for person in detention on remand. To define such guarantees and rights, it recalls not only laws and jurisprudence of the region, but also International norms, reports of the Committee against Torture and of the UN’s Committee of Human Rights and the European Court of Human Rights’ jurisprudence.
