Subject: During the meeting of October, the European Council mainly debated the following issues: the rapid completion of the ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon, the position of the EU with regard to the forthcoming Copenhagen Conference on climate change, the economic, financial and employment situation within the Member States, the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, the progress made on implementing measures regarding illegal immigration, the enhancement of FRONTEX and the situation in Afghanistan/Pakistan.
